Patrick Kane’s injury Tuesday has dropped the Chicago Blackhawks from +600 to +900 on the Sports Interaction Stanley Cup betting odds.

Kane broke his collarbone in Chicago’s 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers. The NHL’s leading scorer is expected to miss six to 10 weeks — basically the rest of the regular season, if not more.

“No team in the league had a better 1-2 punch down the middle than Chicago did with Jonathan Toews and Kane. Now, opposing teams will be able to focus on Toews without worrying about Kane burning them,” a Sports Interaction NHL betting analyst said.

The absence of Kane could also hurt Chicago in shootouts. He ranked second in the NHL this season in shootout percentage, converting at a 60% clip.

The silver lining for the Blackhawks is that the injury came before the NHL trade deadline.

“The Blackhawks could be very active before the trade deadline to see if they can find someone to get them through until Kane returns,” the Sports Interaction NHL betting analyst said, “because it doesn’t look like they have a legitimate No. 2 centre on the roster right now.”

The Ducks and Predators are the only teams ahead of the Blackhawks on the 2015 Stanley Cup betting odds, each ranked at +800. The Canadiens and Lightning are the co-favourites among Eastern Conference teams, paying +1000.
