Chiefs’ Loss In Oakland Was Costly For Bettors

The past week in sports betting saw the Jaguars fail to cover once again, the Chiefs inexplicably lose in Oakland, and bettors continuing to cash in on the woes of the Lakers and Oilers.

Sports Interaction gives us a breakdown of what the last seven days were like for the sportsbooks, and takes a look ahead to the NFL Thanksgiving Day action.

What was last week like for Sports Interaction?

It was a 50/50 week. We won some, the players won some. We’re happy with it.

What was the biggest winner for players?

Indianapolis covering against Jacksonville. The Colts went off as a -14.5 point favorite, and that half-point made it a huge number to cover. First half, the Colts could do nothing right and the Jags were looking good for a 10-3 – ugly as sin, but still a W. And then the Colts woke up and swatted the Jags away, of course, but more than a few of our players would have been sweating during the first half of that game.

What was the worst result for players?

Kansas City getting turned over at Oakland. Nobody saw that coming, at all. It was a bitter blow for Chiefs bettors, and the big question marks loom again over the heads of Andy Reid and Alex Smith. Only rings will make those question marks go away. Nothing else.

What’s happening in basketball?

Players are queuing up to fade the Lakers. Whoever the Lakers playing, there’s always money down on them against the Lakers. Normally it’s the Lakers that do the bullying – now they’re the ones that can’t keep their lunch money.

What about hockey?

It’s the same, except that people are ganging up on Edmonton. The Lakers were good in recent memory. It’s hard to say that about the Oilers, I’m afraid.

Were there any big winners this week?

95/1, a four-fold soccer and basketball parlay. The bet went down on Saturday – Phoenix to cover -2 at the Pacers, New Orleans to cover -3 at home against the Jazz, and two half-time/full-time bets on Italian Serie A and English Premier League soccer. It was the prices on the soccer bets that pushed up the winnings. Well done, that man or woman.

Finally, who does the public like this week?

The Thanksgiving games are dominant right now, of course. The biggest handle is on Seattle at San Francisco, but all three are balancing pretty well. Of the games on Sunday, there’s a lot of money coming in on Denver -1.5 at Kansas City and the Giants to beat Jacksonville. Game of the day has the Packers -3 at home to the Patriots, but the early money is coming for the Patriots so far.
