NHL Betting Picks For Thursday, December 7

We got a bit of a lucky push last night in the Flyers/Oilers Over 6 as Philadelphia scored a late empty-netter to prevail 4-2. Things didn’t look good after a scoreless first period, but the teams combined for 3 goals in both the second and third periods to push the total.

We remain on a 12-5 run with these free NHL betting picks, and there are 9 games tonight in the NHL to choose from as we try to continue this hot surge. Canadian teams in action include the Flames at Canadiens, Jets at Panthers and Senators at Kings.

NHL Predictions For Tonight

New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins

If you read about our Lightning Team Total Over 3.5 bet on Tuesday, a lot of this will sound redundant. We’re once again fading the defence of an Islanders team who continues to allow a lot of goals, but has been able to survive issues in its own end because they have been scoring lots of goals themselves.

Tuesday in Tampa Bay, New York allowed 6 goals. That’s 16 goals allowed in the Isles’ last 3 games, and 8 times in their last 10 that they’ve allowed at least 3. That’s not the kind of hockey you want to be playing when you visit Pittsburgh, especially when the Penguins are coming off a rare home loss.

The Pens’ attack was struggling uncharacteristically earlier this year, but they’ve hit their stride of late, potting 3+ goals in 6 straight outings. Pittsburgh has historically dominated the Islanders at home, winning 22 of the last 29 matchups in Pittsburgh. Instead of laying the -150 moneyline on the Pens or requiring them to win in regulation time at a short underdog price, let’s take Pittsburgh to score 4 goals or more tonight – something they might need to do anyway in order to beat a high-scoring Islanders side.
