If you are thinking about betting on the New York Islanders, you might want to wait until they’re behind.
The Islanders are the best come-from-behind in NHL betting this year, going an unbelievable 14-6 when they’ve surrendered the first goal of the game (as of Jan. 31).
This makes New York an excellent candidate for NHL live betting. When teams fall behind 1-0, the live betting odds change in a big way.
In a Jan. 31 game at Detroit, the Islanders were +110 underdogs before the game but soared to +195 after going down 1-0 in the first period.
The Washington Capitals are on the other end of the spectrum. If the Caps give up the first goal of the game, you might as well rip up your NHL betting ticket.
Washington is 1-13-5 when it allows the game’s first goal. It’s worth considering doing NHL live betting against the Capitals when they fall behind 1-0, no matter what the odds, since they’ve only won once in 19 tries.
