Weekly Q&A With Sports Interaction (May 4)

Anyone who saw Leicester City's championship win coming made a lot of money.

Each week, we talk to Sports Interaction to get their thoughts on what’s going on in the sports betting world.

Here’s our Q&A with them for this week.

Leicester City just pulled off the biggest longshot victory in professional sports this week by winning the Premier League title after opening the BPL season with championship odds of about 5000-1. Did Sports Interaction have any Leicester City supporters cash in big?

It truly is the ultimate underdog story, isn’t it? We didn’t have any wagers on Leicester City to win the Premier League at 5000-1, but we did have one supporter place a bet when the club was at 1695-1 so that was a nice win.

Later in the season we saw a handful of Leicester City bets when the odds had moved to 90-1 and then some more when that shifted further to 75-1 and 60-1.

Full marks to all those Leicester City bettors for believing in their club.

The Toronto Raptors finally put their first-round playoff jinx to bed by sneaking past the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 on Sunday. Are hoops bettors really getting behind this team now?

The Raptors’ “We The North” campaign couldn’t be more fitting. Sunday’s Game 7 was the most-watched Raptors game in Canadian history with 1.53 million viewers tuning in and we routinely saw better than 70 percent of our bettors backing the Raptors for each game in the first round.

The Raps look like they’re in for another tough fight with the Heat now, but there’s no doubt this team has the full support of bettors.

If Toronto advances to the next round and faces LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, we may see even more bettors hop on the bandwagon. Toronto is now +4400 to win the NBA Championship.

What has been the hottest bet in the NHL playoffs over the last week?

The Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals series is seeing a lot of action, just as we expected.

There’s just something about the Sidney Crosby vs. Alex Ovechkin rivalry that hockey bettors can’t get enough of.

Finally, the Kentucky Derby is this weekend at Churchill Downs. What kind of action do you expect for this year’s “Run for the Roses?”

While horse racing is a very niche sport, they don’t call it the “Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” for nothing.

Our regular horse bettors will obviously have action on this race, while lots of people only bet one race per year and that’s the Kentucky Derby.

Our Derby handle is usually comparable to that of a Game 7 in the NHL playoffs and we’re expecting more strong numbers again this year.
