3 Ways To Bet Blue Jays vs. Angels – Friday, Sept. 16

The Blue Jays got a much-needed victory last night in LA, scoring 2 runs in the 4th and then breaking things open with a 3-run 6th on their way to a 7-2 win over the Angels.

JA Happ was rock solid once again, pitching into the 7th inning and allowing 1 earned run as he earned his 19th victory of the year.

We’re on a nice run with our Blue Jays betting tips, going 4-0 over the last 2 days and also predicting Logan Forsythe would have a big game Wednesday. If you took the Jays series bet we suggested yesterday, you’d also just need Toronto to win tonight or tomorrow to cash that bet.

The Jays couldn’t gain any ground on the Red Sox last night, unfortunately, as Boston overcame a 5-2 9th inning deficit to beat the Yankees 7-5. Baltimore lost, however, and the Jays pulled even with them atop the wild card standings. Detroit lost and is 2 games back, along with the Mariners.

Tonight, Toronto sends R.A. Dickey to the hill. Jered Weaver counters for the Angels. Let’s look at 3 ways to do Blue Jays betting tonight.

1. Blue Jays To Win

Dickey gets his share of grief from Jays fans, but he’s actually been decent on the road this year. He’s got a 3.81 ERA away from the Rogers Centre, and he’s also 7-2 in his career versus the Angels with an ERA of 3.77.

Jered Weaver’s the classic case of a good player who stayed around too long. He barely strikes anybody out anymore (the Jays’ biggest weakness as an offence) and gives up 2 home runs per 9 innings. Toronto doesn’t really have an excuse for not knocking his slow junk all over Angels Stadium tonight.

Hopefully a victory will have the Jays playing looser and possibly start a winning streak. They’re -136 at Pinnacle to get it started tonight.

2. Over 9

Josh Donaldson returned from injury last night with a 3-for-3 night to spark the Blue Jays’ offence. Toronto is obviously a different team with the defending AL MVP in its lineup, and it showed as the Jays scored more than 3 runs for just the second time in their last 8 games.

Weaver’s been better than usual lately, but he’s overdue for a clunker.

And if you’re into trends, the Jays and Angels have gone Over the total the last 5 times they’ve played in LA and 20 of their last 29 meetings overall.

3. Mike Trout Over Total Bases Prop

If you don’t mind cheering for the opposition (at least one of their players), Mike Trout could be poised for a big game tonight.

He’s never had trouble with Dickey, going 6 for 13 off the knuckleballer with 3 walks, 2 doubles and a triple. That equals a .462 average and 1.322 OPS.

Trout’s been a bit cold lately (1 hit in his last 5 games) but we might be catching him at the right time to break out. We’ll be interested in betting Over any props we see on Trout’s total bases tonight at Bodog or Sports Interaction.
