As we write this, it’s less than a month to go before the 2016 baseball season. What better time to see what different sportsbooks have for their MLB Prop Bets 2016 selection?

Traditional baseball prop bets include World Series odds and MLB season win totals. Less common prop bets are on the American League odds and National League odds, or even betting on division winners like the AL East division odds, etc.

In this article, however, we’ll take a look at what two of our favourite baseball sportsbooks (BetOnline and Sports Interaction) are offering for individual MLB player props in 2016.

BetOnline MLB Prop Bets 2016

Home Runs

World Series Odds

The Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton tops the MLB Prop Bets 2016 odds for most home runs, paying +700. He led the National League in 2014 with 37 bombs, but was limited to 74 games last season due to injury.

Mike Trout is second on the odds at +1000, ranking ahead of last year’s MLB home run champ Chris Davis and the Nationals’ Bryce Harper (both +1200).

AL Cy Young

AL Cy Young

Chris Sale of the White Sox is the favourite on the AL Cy Young 2016 Odds, slightly ahead of David Price and Corey Kluber.

Sale was fourth in Cy Young voting despite going just 13-11 last season, suffering from a lack of run support. Price signed a big contract in Boston and will no doubt feel pressure to perform. Kluber won the award in 2014, while 2015 Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel pays +600 to repeat, tied with Mariners ace Felix Hernandez.

NL Cy Young

NL Cy Young

Clayton Kershaw is the clear favourite on BetOnline’s 2016 NL Cy Young odds, not even paying 2:1 return. Kershaw was third in Cy Young voting last year.

2015 NL Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta is an attractive +700, especially when you consider he’s on a Cubs team that is expected to rack up tons of wins this year.

2016 MLB ERA leader Zack Greinke is an enticing +2000 (but now pitches for the Diamondbacks, where he’ll probably allow more runs in a hitter-friendly ballpark and also get less victories).

AL MVP

AL MVP

Fan favourite Mike Trout is expected to win American League MVP this year, while defending MVP Josh Donaldson is a distant +450.

This was also the case in the middle of last season, but Donaldson and the Jays went on a tear in the final 2 months while Trout and the Angels slumped and missed the playoffs. The performance of the Jays and Angels will go a long way towards determining the AL MVP again this year.

Lorenzo Cain is an intriguing darkhorse at +2500 odds. If the Royals are the best team in MLB again this season, voters might be looking to reward a Kansas City player.

NL MVP

NL MVP

The Nationals’ Bryce Harper is a 2:1 favourite after accomplishing the rare feat last year of being named NL MVP even though his team missed the playoffs. His vote total was nearly double that of second-place Paul Goldschmidt, who pays +500 on a Diamondbacks team that should be better this year.

Kris Bryant (+900) could pay off if he can follow up a strong rookie year and the Cubs are as good as everyone expects them to be. He’s a very noticable young player in a large market, so voters will definitely be aware of him.

Sports Interaction MLB Prop Bets 2016

Season Leader Over/Unders

SIA MLB leaders

Sports Interaction has an interesting spin with its MLB prop bets 2016 offerings.

Instead of listing Cy Young and MVP odds, Sports Interaction has given an Over/Under of how many home runs, stolen bases and runs the league leaders in each category will get this year.

Just for perspective, the 2015 MLB leaders in these categories hit 47 home runs (would be Over 44.5), had 58 stolen bases (would be Under 63.5) and scored 122 runs (slightly over 121.5).

Home Runs

SIA most home runsSports Interaction also offers a Most Home Runs bet as part of its MLB Prop Bets 2016 selection.

The sportsbook makes Stanton a +500 favourite (he’s +700 at BetOnline) and has Trout and Davis both at +1000.

There are 3 Blue Jays hitters in Sports Interaction’s top 9 on the Home Run odds. Since Sports Interaction is a Canadian sportsbook that caters to a lot of Blue Jays fans, we thought the odds might be a bit worse on Encarnacion, Donaldson and Bautista, but they’re actually collectively better than what BetOnline is offering on that trio.
