The Toronto Blue Jays enter the Major League Baseball season listed at 25:1 on the William Hill 2015 World Series odds.

That’s a lot more respect than the Jays got at the start of last season, when they paid 60:1.

Of course, it’s also a far cry from 2013, when Toronto made a ton of splashy off-season moves and entered the campaign as the World Series betting favourites.

The Nationals, Dodgers, Tigers, Angels and Cardinals are the top five favourites on the 2015 World Series odds.

The Jays’ season win total has been set at 82.5 on the Pinnacle Sports MLB odds. That suggests oddsmakers think Toronto is capable of doing the same as last year’s 83-79 squad, which actually threatened to win the AL East for the first half of the season before falling apart.

Expectations may be the same, but the Jays certainly aren’t. Toronto picked up all-star 3B Josh Donaldson, stud C Russell Martin and OF Michael Saunders during the off-season. Gone are mainstays 1B Adam Lind, 3B Brett Lawrie, OF Melky Cabrera and Colby Rasmus, and RP Casey Janssen.

The Jays’ lineup looks very good, but question marks abound in the starting rotation and the bullpen. Fortunately, the AL East isn’t as strong as it once was. The Jays are ranked behind only Boston on the Sports Interaction 2015 American League East MLB odds.
