Canada is a slight favourite to beat the United States in regulation New Year’s Eve on the world junior hockey odds.

Oddsmakers at Pinnacle Sports listed Canada at -116 to win in regulation time, meaning you’d have to risk $116 to win $100. A tie pays nearly four times your money (+367), and the United States pays roughly 2.5 times your money (+248).

The Canada/United States world junior hockey game is the most anticipated of the opening round, as Connor McDavid faces off against Jack Eichel. Both Canada and the United States are undefeated in the tournament.

In Tuesday’s action, Switzerland and Slovakia are both favoured to win their opening-round games on the world junior hockey odds. Each team pays roughly even odds on the puck line, which requires them to win by more than one goal (-1.5). The over/under for each game is listed at 6.

In addition to the Canada/United States game, Russia and the Czech Republic will also face off on New Year’s Eve. Russia is a 2:1 favourite to win in regulation, but nearly even odds (-118) to cover the -1.5 puck line. The over/under for the Russia/Czech game is 6, while the Canada/United States total is 5.5.
