Canada Tops 2016 World Cup Of Hockey Betting Odds

Canada is heavily favoured on the 2016 World Cup of Hockey betting odds, paying even money at William Hill and slightly less at several other sportsbooks.

The two-week tournament will take place Sept. 17 to Oct. 1, with all games being played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. It returns this year after a 12-year hiatus, with Canada as the defending champion (2004) after the U.S. won the title in 1996.

Russia was originally ranked second on the World Cup of Hockey odds at most sportsbooks, ranging from +300 to +425. Sports Interaction, however, ranked the USA as second at +615 odds, followed closely by Russia (+650) and Sweden (+700).

Less than a week before the tournament, the odds had changed quite a bit. USA, Russia and Sweden all pay in the +600/+700 range at most sportsbooks, though Russia still pays as low as +300 at William Hill. And the North America U23 team had moved from +2000 to as low as +575 at Sports Interaction.

(Note: Odds with a plus sign in front of them (ie. +300) indicate how much you could win on a $100 bet. When the odds have a minus in front of them (ie. -115), it means that’s what you’d have to risk to win $100. To have betting odds explained even more, click here.)
