CFL Opening Week Point Spreads Posted At 5Dimes

Are you ready for some football, Canadian style?

The 2011 CFL regular season kicks off this week in Montreal, Hamilton, Calgary and Saskatchewan. And if the oddsmakers have it right, we shouldn’t expect to see too many close games in Week 1.

5Dimes is the first sportsbook we’ve seen post lines for this week’s contests, and all of them feature spreads of a touchdown or higher.

Calgary and Montreal are viewed as the favourites to win the Grey Cup this year, but it is the Hamilton Tiger-Cats that are laying the most points in Week 1. The Tabbies are 10.5-point chalk as they prepare to host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Friday at Ivor Wynne Stadium (the over/under line is set at 53).

The season gets underway on Thursday as Montreal is home to the B.C. Lions. The Alouettes are favoured by a touchdown, while the total is the highest of the week at 56.5 points.

The Toronto Argonauts are eight-point underdogs heading into Friday’s contest in Calgary, with the total sitting at 53.5 points.

Edmonton and Saskatchewan will round out the CFL’s opening-week slate with a clash Sunday in Regina. The Roughriders are 7.5-point favourites and the total has been posted at 54.5 points.

Other sportsbooks are expected to post their Week 1 lines shortly.
