The Blue Jays’ recent dominance could translate into a couple of major individual awards for their players.

According to Bodog, Josh Donaldson is now a -500 favourite to win the American League MVP. As recently as a couple of weeks ago, Donaldson was a 3:1 underdog to the Angels’ Mike Trout on the 5Dimes American League MVP betting odds.

New Jays ace David Price is a serious contender for the American League Cy Young Award as well. Bodog’s American League Cy Young betting odds list the lefty at +300, behind only Dallas Keuchel of the Astros (-250). Sonny Gray of the A’s is the next pitcher on the AL Cy Young betting odds, at a distant +700.

In the National League, the Dodgers’ Zack Greinke is a -200 favourite at Bodog to claim Cy Young honours. Cubs hurler Jake Arrieta, who no-hit the Dodgers Sunday night, is +300, and Greinke’s teammate Clayton Kershaw pays +450.

The National League MVP betting odds are interesting in that Washington’s Bryce Harper is a -400 favourite while Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt is second at +350. The MVP award almost always goes to players whose team makes the playoffs, and neither the Nationals or Diamondbacks are looking good to make the post-season. That makes the Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen (+1000), or even the Giants’ Buster Posey (+2500), intriguing possibilities.
