Early 2016 Super Bowl Props Betting Odds

10 days before the big game between the Broncos and Panthers, some 2016 Super Bowl props betting odds were already showing up at online sportsbooks.

(In case you’re planning on doing some Super Bowl prop betting this year, we wrote an article about the 3 different types of Super Bowl props and what to keep in mind.)

Here’s a sampling of what Sports Interaction was offering early for this year’s Super Bowl:

2016 Super Bowl MVP Odds

It’s rarely surprising to see the two QBs are the favourites on the Super Bowl MVP odds. But look at what a huge favourite Cam Newton is, compared to the rest of the field. If you think Carolina’s going to win the game, Newton appears to be a very solid MVP candidate.

Manning at +345 seems low to us. If Denver wins the Super Bowl, will Peyton really be the reason why? We can’t imagine him throwing for 300 yards and 4 TDs. But Manning as Super Bowl MVP would be a sentimental choice, so we can’t totally disregard it either.

2016 Super Bowl First Touchdown Odds

The first touchdown odds are always a popular Super Bowl prop. Again, it’s interesting to see that Newton is the favourite, although it’s by a small margin over teammate Jonathan Stewart.

Newton ran for 10 touchdowns this year, a lot of them on short yardage. So if you bet on Newton to score the first TD, you might also want to see if you can find a prop on the first TD being less than 5 yards.

There are a lot of choices here. Our suggestion is to decide who you think will score first (Denver or Carolina) and then pick a player or two on that team at odds you like. A big part of Super Bowl props is envisioning how you think the game will play out, then making your prop bets accordingly.

Other 2016 Super Bowl Props

Don’t worry, there will be many other 2016 Super Bowl props posted at Sports Interaction. We actually got a sneak peek at a couple interesting ones that will be offered, though they didn’t have any odds posted as of Jan. 28.

Once again, they’re QB focused, but we have to give Sports Interaction credit for being imaginative. Can’t wait to see what the odds are on some of these.

2016 Super Bowl Coin Toss Odds

Believe it or not, one of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets each year is the coin toss.

You’re getting less than even odds on something that has an even probability of occurring, so it’s a horrible bet to make. But it’s really easy to understand whether you won or lost, and it can give you a rush before kickoff, so we won’t judge.

If you really can’t resist betting on the coin toss, Pinnacle Sports has the best 2016 Super Bowl coin toss odds. Most sportsbooks charge -105 odds or higher, but Pinnacle will give you -103.

FYI, 5 of the last 7 Super Bowl coin tosses have landed on heads. If that matters to you.
