1. Maple Leafs/Islanders Over 5.5 -115 (Pinnacle)

Good chance for both teams to score 3 goals or more tonight, which would easily be enough to cash the Over on this total. Toronto’s allowed 5 goals in 3 straight games and Frederik Andersen is suddenly playing without very much confidence, which could spell trouble against an Islanders team that has cracked the 3-goal mark 9 times in its last 10 games. New York’s surrendered 5 goals in consecutive games itself and the Leafs are coming off a 6-goal effort Saturday in Boston, so we see potential for some fireworks at that end of the rink as well. We’ll look for a competitive game tonight with both teams contributing a few goals towards the total.

2. Sabres First Period Moneyline +109 (Pinnacle)

Both the Sabres and Devils come into this game off multiple-goal victories, with Buffalo blanking the Senators 4-0 Saturday while the Devils surprised the Blue Jackets 5-1 in Columbus. We give Buffalo a better shot of continuing that momentum into tonight, however, because of the Devils’ struggles on home ice recently (0-5-2 last 7). The Sabres also have stronger first period numbers on the road and as an underdog than New Jersey does at home and as a favourite. Buffalo’s allowed 1 regulation time goal in its last 2 games, so if the Sabres can pop one in in the first period tonight, they’ve got a great shot at covering this first period moneyline at plus money.
