NHL Betting Picks For Tonight

1. Maple Leafs Team Total Over 2.5 -121 (Pinnacle)

The Maple Leafs are basically automatic these days for 2 goals, scoring 2 or more in 19 consecutive games. They’re a young team playing with a ton of confidence (11-2-2 last 15) and put up 4 goals pretty effortlessly last night in Detroit. The Flyers have limited their opponents to 2 goals in their last 2 games, but that’s not sustainable for a team that is averaging more than 3 goals against per game on the season. With McElhinney in net for Toronto, they might need at least 3 goals to have a shot at the win here anyway.

2. Sabres Team Total Over 2.5 -110 (Pinnacle)

We took a shot on the Sabres First Period moneyline Tuesday in Nashville. It lost, but the Sabres went on to beat the Predators in overtime, rallying from a 4-2 deficit in the third period. Buffalo has now won 3 straight games and 6 of its last 9, and they’re another young team playing with lots of offensive confidence (3+ goals in 5 straight games). Dallas routinely allows a couple of goals per game and has given up 3 or more in 6 straight and 8 of 10. And if this game goes to OT tied at 2-2, we like Buffalo’s chances (3 straight OT wins) at getting the third goal a lot more than Dallas, which has been horrible in overtime this season.

3. Lightning -102  (BetOnline)

Two teams going in different directions psychologically as the Lightning visit their Florida rival, the Panthers. Tampa’s ending a 2-2-1 road trip and coming off a come-from-behind 5-2 win in Chicago, while the Panthers have lost 4 straight games. With the Lightning striking for 8 goals in its last 2 games and the Panthers having given up 3+ goals in 5 of their last 6 (including against the offensively impotent Coyotes), we love the chances of Tampa striking for at least 3 goals tonight. That should be enough, with the Panthers struggling to generate offence and having lost 7 of their last 9 at home.
