NHL Predictions For Tonight

Calgary at Detroit

The Flames are finally heating up, winning 2 straight and 5 of their last 6, and offence is a big reason why. They’ve scored 21 goals in their last 4 games, nearly double the amount of goals they’d scored in their previous 6 games combined.

The Red Wings, meanwhile, have lost 2 straight – including a 6-3 loss at Calgary last week – and are a mediocre 2-2-2 at home on the season. But Detroit’s been putting the puck in net with decent consistency as well, potting at least 3 goals in 5 of their last 6 outings before a 2-1 shootout loss at home Saturday to the stingy Columbus Blue Jackets.

We like the Flames to earn their 6th victory in their last 7 games against Detroit, and expect there to be goals as well.

Prediction: Flames Moneyline -102, Over 5.5 -110

New York at Chicago

Just a couple of weeks ago, Alain Vigneault may have been fired if the Rangers hadn’t come back from a 4-2 deficit at home against the Vegas Golden Knights. Now, New York rolls into Chicago on a 6-game winning streak and with plenty of confidence offensively, having scored at least 4 goals in 4 straight games and 7 of 8.

Chicago’s up and down season continued Sunday with a 7-5 loss at home to New Jersey, when the Blackhawks blew a 4-1 first-period lead. The Hawks have just 2 regulation time wins in their last 9 games, and they’ve also lost 12 of their last 17 games following a game in which they allowed at least 5 goals.

We’ll roll with the more confident team in much better form, and we’re not convinced the Blackhawks are really that good anyway.

Prediction: Rangers Moneyline +112, Rangers Team Total Over 2.5 -127

Boston at Anaheim

Boston’s lost 3 straight games, 4 of 5 and 6 of 8, while the Ducks come into tonight’s contest with losses in 5 of their past 6.

Injuries are an obvious reason for each of these teams’ recent skids, and they’ll be a factor again tonight. Boston is expected to be without Brad Marchand, while David Krejci looks like a game-time decision. Anaheim is still having to play without Ryan Getzlaf, Cam Fowler, Patrick Eaves, Ryan Kesler and others.

The Ducks have won the past 7 meetings between these teams, and are 8-1-1 in their last 10 versus the B’s. Boston’s also struggling on both ends of the ice (3+ against in 6 of their last 7, 2 goals or less in 7 of 9), while Anaheim is at least scoring goals (3+ in 7 of 10). We’ll take the Ducks here.

Prediction: Ducks Moneyline -113, Ducks Team Total over 2.5 -123
