Three Canadian teams hit the ice tonight as the National Hockey League serves up six games on the Monday docket.

The Maple Leafs seek their third straight shutout win and seventh straight victory overall when they host the Coyotes; the Flames visit the Capitals in Washington; and the red-hot Jets look to keep flying high as they travel to Nashville to take on the Predators.

In other Monday action, the Blue Jackets visit the Sabres, Minnesota hosts the Devils and the Ducks renew their fierce California rivalry with the Sharks.

NHL Predictions For Tonight

Arizona Coyotes at Toronto Maple Leafs

Don’t look now, but the Coyotes are hot. Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win over Ottawa was Arizona’s second victory in a row, coming on the heels of a 5-4 win in Montreal Thursday.

It’s going to be hard for Arizona to continue its recent roll tonight, however, even though the Yotes have won 6 of their last 7 trips to Toronto. The Maple Leafs have regained the early-season form that had some considering them as Stanley Cup favourites, winning 6 straight games and allowing just 8 goals during that stretch.

Even despite its recent hot streak, Arizona has scored 2 regulation time goals or less in 7 of its last 8 games. The way Frederik Andersen is seeing the puck right now in net for the Leafs, we see Arizona struggling to get to 3 goals again tonight.

Prediction: Coyotes Team Total Under 2.5 -117

Winnipeg Jets at Nashville Predators

Winnipeg is starting to look a lot like the Columbus Blue Jackets last fall – a team that has flown under the radar for the past few seasons but has finally put things together. The Jets have earned points in 12 of their last 13 games, and that one slip-up came where everyone else seems to lose this year as well: in Las Vegas.

Nashville is rolling right now too, having won 6 of its last 7 games, but it’s been the Predators’ offence carrying the way. Nashville has scored 4 goals or more in 4 straight games and 6 of 7, masking the fact that the Preds have allowed 3 goals or more in 7 of their last 9.

Winnipeg’s offence is clicking and while we like the way the Jets are defending (6 goals against in their last 4), we don’t want to stand in front of a Nashville attack that is averaging more than 4 goals per game at home. Instead, let’s take the Jets to score some goals themselves at this low price.

Prediction: Jets Team Total Over 2.5 -113

New Jersey Devils at Minnesota Wild

After a tremendous start to the year, are the Devils starting to come back to earth? It may look that way with New Jersey winning just 2 of its last 8 games and managing 2 goals or less in 5 of its last 6, but the Devils are still in games consistently. They’ve earned points in 5 of their last 7 games, and they’ve also won 8 of their last 11 games following a 3-goal loss like Saturday’s 5-2 defeat in Winnipeg.

Minnesota is 5-3-1 at home but isn’t scoring goals with consistency, and a 3-game shutout streak has been followed by 7 goals allowed in their last 2 games against Nashville and Washington. New Jersey’s a live underdog here and has confidence playing on the road (6-2-2). In what looks like anybody’s game, we’ll simply ask for New Jersey to get the game into overtime to cash our bet, though we won’t be surprised to see them earn the outright victory as well.

Prediction: Devils +0.5 (regulation time) -110
