The 2017-18 National Hockey League season gets underway Wednesday night with what looks like a doozy of a game in Winnipeg.
Oddsmakers at BetOnline have priced the Toronto Maple Leafs’ visit to the Jets as basically a coin toss. Toronto is a very slim -104 underdog on the moneyline (you need to risk $104 for every $100 you want to win), while the Jets are slight -106 favourites.
The Over/Under in the Leafs/Jets game is also the highest on the board, with oddsmakers setting a total of 6. If you see the potential for a high-scoring game between these two Canadian rivals (and who could blame you), you could cash in at a +118 return on the Over.
In the other game on NHL opening night involving Canadian teams, the Edmonton Oilers are -147 favourites at home to the Calgary Flames. The Over/Under in that contest has been set at 5.5.
Other first-night action sees the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins as -187 favourites at home to St. Louis, and the Flyers as +135 underdogs when they visit the Sharks.
