Proline NHL Betting Tips: Top Over And Under Teams So Far

The Edmonton Oilers are known for their bevy of youth and skill, but it hasn’t been offence that has keyed their ascent to the top of the Northwest Division.

Nikolai Khabibulin and the Oilers have been good under bets this year.

The Oilers are the NHL’s best defensive team through 14 games, and it’s not even close. Edmonton boasts a team goals-against average of 1.47 so far, with the Minnesota Wild (1.73) the only other team with a sub-2.00 average.

So it should come as no surprise that the Oilers have also been the top “under” bet of the NHL season to date.

Eleven of the Oilers’ 14 games have gone under the total. Anaheim (10 unders in 13 games) and Minnesota (nine unders in 13 games) are also solid under bets this season.

Yeah, yeah, betting unders isn’t fun. So who are teams to look at when betting over the total this year?

Well, the Flyers have gone over the total in 10 of 14 games so far this year. That includes a 9-2 romp over the Blue Jackets and a 7-2 pounding of the Senators, as well as a crazy 9-8 loss to the Jets.

Other “over” teams thus far include the Leafs (10-5 to the over), the Capitals (9-4 to the over) and the Sharks (9-4).

This doesn’t mean we expect Oilers games will keep going under the total at nearly an 80 per cent clip, or that the Flyers will go over the total in 60 games this year. But these stats are certainly nice to know when you’re making your next NHL over/under bets.
