Proline Strategy: Compare NFL Odds To Sportsbooks, Week 12

When betting the NFL, it’s always good to be on the right side of key numbers.

Needing your favourite to only win by 2.5 points instead of 3 will make a big difference to your bottom line, as will catching more than a touchdown with an underdog instead of less than a touchdown.

Often, Proline and offshore sportsbooks offer odds that are on both sides of these key numbers.

Here’s a look at this weekend’s NFL games where this is the case.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills (+6 offshore, +7.5 at Proline in Ontario and Quebec, +5.5 in Atlantic Canada)
Obviously, there’s a big difference between 6 and 7.5 points. If you like the Steelers, your best odds are betting on them offshore or in Atlantic Canada, where you don’t need to lay a full touchdown. If you like the Bills, you’re catching more than a converted touchdown if you bet them at Proline in Ontario and Quebec.

San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts (-2.5 offshore, -3.5 at Proline in Ontario and Quebec)
Once again, there’s a big difference between 2.5 and 3.5 points. If you take Indy on Proline, you need them to win by more than a field goal, while a 3-point win will cash your ticket offshore.

Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns (-9.5 offshore, -10.5 at Proline in British Columbia, Western Canada)
10 is another key number, so getting the right side of this line is also a good strategy. If you bet on Cleveland at Proline, you need them to win by more than a touchdown and a field goal. Offshore, that margin will win your bet. Proline in Ontario is offering a 9.5 point line on this one, similar to the offshore books.

Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears (+3 offshore, +3.5 at Proline across Canada)
Everyone seems to be on board the Michael Vick train these days, and Proline has taken notice. The Eagles are favoured by more than a field goal on Proline across the country, but offshore books have been hesitant to move off the key number 3.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants (-7 offshore, -8.5 in Quebec, -6.5 in Atlantic Canada and -7.5 everywhere else in Canada)
Proline (except for Atlantic Canada) is making Giants bettors win by more than a converted touchdown this week. Jaguars bettors are getting a bit of extra value on the other side. Offshore, a 7-point win for the Giants would result in a push. And in Atlantic Canada, a Giants’ win by a touchdown would be a winning pick.

Don’t forget that even if you get better odds on individual games with Proline, the payout on multi-game tickets (parlays) is still generally much higher with online sportsbooks. Pinnacle and 5Dimes are great sportsbooks to use when betting on the NFL because of their reduced juice. You can also often find some different odds on games if you use Sports Interaction, which is known to offer opinionated lines.
