What’s On TV This Weekend To Bet On (July 8-10)

In Las Vegas, they refer to the summer as the slow time of the sports betting year.

Not so right now in Canada, however! We’ve got tons going on right now in the sports world to capture our attention.

Let’s start with Milos Raonic, who Friday became the first Canadian to reach the men’s final of a tennis grand slam tournament. Raonic will play for a Wimbledon championship Sunday morning.

We Canadians will also have plenty of interest in the outcome of the Euro 2016 final, which goes Sunday afternoon between France and Portugal.

Then there’s UFC 200 on Saturday afternoon, plus the red-hot Blue Jays hosting Detroit in a weekend series at the Rogers Centre.

Add in Week 3 of the CFL football season, Canada’s MLS teams in action, the Tour de France, NASCAR, the U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament and even Canada’s men’s basketball team attempting to qualify for the Olympics, and we might not even make it outside this weekend.

Here’s our weekly look at what’s on TV to bet on (all times eastern). For the latest odds on MLB and CFL, visit our Live Odds Page.

Wimbledon Finals

Canada’s Milos Raonic has taken us on a great ride this week at Wimbledon, and he added a thrilling chapter Friday morning when he defeated Roger Federer in a five-set classic.

Raonic will face Scotland’s Andy Murray in Sunday’s final. He’s a 3:1 underdog to win the match, but there are other ways to bet on Raonic that don’t require the straight upset.

Saturday, the women’s final will feature Serena Williams gunning for her seventh Wimbledon title against Angelique Kerber. Williams is a large favourite to win the match, but Kerber beat Serena in the Australian Open final earlier this year.

TSN will carry both matches, beginning at 9 a.m, each day.

Euro 2016 Final

The 2016 UEFA European Football Championships are down to the final game, pitting host France against Portugal Sunday at 3 p.m. Once again, TSN will have the game for us.

France is a significant favourite, paying around even odds to win the game in regulation time at www.Pinnacle.com. The draw pays a bit better than 2:1, and Portugal is close to 4:1 to win the game in the first 90 minutes.

If you don’t like those odds, you can always bet on how many goals there will be, who will score the first goal, or even how many corner kicks there will be. Check out our article on the many ways to bet soccer for more info.

CFL Betting

There’s a CFL doubleheader Friday night with the Stampeders visiting the Redblacks at 7 p.m., followed by the Roughriders at Eskimos.

We suffered a tough beat Thursday in the first of our two Week 3 CFL Betting Picks, with special teams and defensive TDs spoiling our First Half Under bet in Winnipeg/Hamilton. Hopefully we’ll bounce back with our pick on Saskatchewan/Edmonton and improve to 3-1 on the season.

UFC 200 Betting

UFC 200 lost a bit of its lustre with Wednesday’s suspension of Jon Jones cancelling his fight against Daniel Cormier, but there’s still a full card of MMA action to bet on.

TSN will broadcast Saturday’s event from 8-10 p.m.

The main event is Brock Lesnar versus Mark Hunt, with Hunt listed as a -175 favourite at www.Bodog.eu (Lesnar pays +145).

There are also a lot of props you can bet on for every fight.

Blue Jays Betting

The Blue Jays are rolling right now, moving to a season-high 10 games over .500 Thursday with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Tigers.

Their series against Detroit continues Friday at 7 p.m., then concludes with 1 p.m. contests Saturday and Sunday. Sportsnet is televising all the action.

With the Blue Jays’ recent surge, www.SportsInteraction.com now makes them the favourites to win the AL East.

FIBA Basketball Olympic Qualifier

It’s not mainstream sports, but the Canadian men’s basketball team is a couple of wins away from qualifying for the Olympics.

They’re playing in the FIBA Americas tournament in the Philippines, where the winner will advance to Rio.

Canada plays New Zealand Saturday (6:30 a.m.) in the semifinals. If victorious, Canada would likely face France in Sunday’s final.
