Sports Betting Picks For Saturday, Oct. 31

Syracuse at Florida State, 12 p.m. eastern, ABC

The Seminoles’ national championship hopes are all but dead after last week’s devastating loss at Georgia Tech, when the Yellow Jackets blocked a field goal on the final play of the game and returned it for the winning TD. It’s Florida State’s first regular-season loss in three years, and we think the Seminoles have been thinking more about that this week than preparing for the lowly Orange. Syracuse has kept things close in its recent games, and Florida State probably sleepwalks through this one. We like Syracuse +17 -110 at Bodog.

Penguins at Maple Leafs, 7 p.m. eastern, CBC

The fear of getting embarrassed is a great motivator. The Leafs have been as bad as expected this season, going 1-6-2 in their first 9 games, but they’ve played hard. Tonight, they’re home to a Pittsburgh team that, on paper, could blow them out of the water on national TV. The Penguins have lots of star power, but they’re still struggling to score goals. We think the Leafs can keep this close and at least force this one into OT. We’ll take Toronto +0.5 in regulation time (a tie would win) at -107 odds at Pinnacle Sports.
