Sportsbooks, Bettors Preparing For NFL Preseason

Each week, we talk to Sports Interaction to get their thoughts on what’s going on in the sports betting world, with an emphasis on sports betting in Canada.

Sports Interaction is a Canadian sportsbook that caters specifically to Canucks. They offer convenient deposit methods as well as a wide selection of betting props on many events.

Here’s our Q&A with them for this week.

NFL Preseason Betting

With NFL preseason play just around the corner, how much action do you normally see from these games?

We see solid action on every NFL game, no matter whether it’s in preseason, regular season, or playoffs.

The opening game of preseason play is usually very busy for us as NFL bettors can’t wait to get back into football action after a long offseason.

This year preseason opens with the Indianapolis Colts meeting the Green Bay Packers in the annual Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 7. With two popular teams squaring off, that should make for a big game for us.

Do you have any advice to football bettors who want to get some action down on the exhibition games?

Betting NFL preseason is extremely difficult, because it often isn’t clear what each team is hoping to get out of these games.

Wins aren’t nearly as important as player evaluation in these games. If you’re going to bet, make sure you do your homework on how much each team’s starters will play and then see if you can place bets on the first quarter or half. (Preseason live betting can also help you take advantage of substitutions.)

After halftime, these games become much more difficult to predict with the third and fourth-stringers taking the majority of snaps.

Canadian Open Betting

The Canadian Open tees off this week at Glen Abbey Golf Club and there’s no shortage of high-profile talent in the field. Who do bettors like right now?

The 107th Canadian Open does have a lot of big names, but don’t forget about the run David Hearn had at this tournament last year.

The Canadian finished in third place, just two shots back of the winner, Jason Day. This time around, Day is the betting favourite at +536 with Dustin Johnson right on his heels at +548.

Hearn sits at +4700 and we have seen some action on him. Matt Kuchar is another popular bet at +1400.

Baseball MVP Betting

Major League Baseball is back in full swing after the All-Star break and MVP odds went up earlier this week. Who do bettors like to win this year’s Most Valuable Player awards?

Blue Jays slugger and reigning MVP Josh Donaldson sits second on the AL MVP odds board at +325, just behind Mike Trout at +275.

Donaldson is the clear favourite among bettors though and it isn’t hard to see why. He’s batting better than .300 with 23 home runs and nearly 70 RBI.

In the NL, Cubs star Kris Bryant is the favourite at +250.
