UFC 147 Odds: Franklin vs. Silva, Werdum vs. Russow

Rich Franklin is favoured to beat Wanderlei Silva this weekend at UFC 147.

MMA fans have a couple interesting fights to watch Saturday as UFC 147 is held in Brazil.

Here are the UFC 147 odds for Franklin vs. Silva and Werdum vs. Russow.

Franklin vs. Silva

Pinnacle Sports lists Rich Franklin as the favourite (-165) to repeat his 2009 victory over Wanderlei Silva (+149) on Saturday as the two 190lbers meet in Brazil.

The last time these two met (UFC 99), both men were five pounds heavier, taking the fight the distance. Franklin won via unanimous decision, holding a marginal 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 over his rival.

For UFC 147 betting, the fight will undoubtedly resemble a boxing match as much as an MMA bout, as the two strikers like to go toe-to-toe with their opponents and look for a knockout. 72% of Wanderlei’s moves are some form of strike, while Frankilin is at a near-equally-high 68%.

The Ace has been much more successful at landing his punches, however, with a 45% strike rate success. Silva may be intense, but he only connects with a lowly 32% of his efforts.

At 6′ 11″, Franklin’s extra two inches in height should add to his striking advantage, and he’s in good condition despite holding an extra two years on the Axe Murderer. The American has lost three of his last five, however, and fought just three times since October 2010.

Werdum vs. Russow

Pinnacle Sports lists Fabricio Werdum (-440) as an overwhelming favourite as he goes head-to-head with Mike Russow (+377) for UFC 147 betting, as the two heavyweights look to out-grapple each other.

Both men prefer a fight on the floor, with Russow using takedowns 71% of the time. Russow will hold the weight advantage when they get to the canvas, holding an extra 16lbs at 255. Werdum’s extra 3″ in height at 6’4″ might also prove key.

Pinnacle Sports is our most highly-recommended sportsbook to use for betting on any sport, not just because of the wide variety of betting options it offers but also because it offers the best odds in the industry.
