In sports betting, it pays to be objective. But sometimes we just can’t help ourselves.

That will be the case for many of us Sunday when our own Milos Raonic plays in the Wimbledon final, hoping to become the first Canadian to win a men’s Grand Slam tennis title.

Raonic is approximately a 3:1 underdog to Scotland’s Andy Murray, who he’s 3-6 against in his career. Murray has beaten Raonic 5 straight times, including a come-from-behind five-set win at the Australian Open earlier this year.

So we know the odds aren’t on Raonic’s side. But we want to bet him anyway.

Here are some of the ways you can bet on Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon final Sunday morning:

1. Moneyline

This is simply betting on who will win the match. Since Raonic is perceived to not have as good a chance of winning as Murray, a bet on Raonic will pay more than a similar-sized bet on Murray would.

On the 2016 Wimbledon final betting odds at www.Pinnacle.com, Raonic pays $311 for every $100 risked, while Murray pays $100 for every $338 risked.

2. Spread

The spread is the equalizer when individuals or teams aren’t evenly matched. The underdog is given a few points or games on the spread (handicap) to level the playing field.

In this case, www.WilliamHill.com makes Raonic +4.5 games in the 2016 Wimbledon final. If you bet on Raonic +4.5, you’ll win your bet if he doesn’t lose more than 5 more games than he wins in the match.

3. Sets Betting

Tennis spreads can be tricky because even if the underdog takes the match to 5 games, he might not cover the spread if his set victories are close (7-6, etc.) and his set losses are not (2-6, 3-6, etc.).

If you like Raonic to win at least one set, you can bet that instead. William Hill offered that line at -188 odds.

4. Games Won

Instead of betting Raonic to win the match or even a certain amount of sets, you can bet on him to win over a particular amount of games in the match.

Raonic’s Games Won total for the 2016 Wimbledon final is 17.5. So if he were to lose the match 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, you would still win your bet because he won 4, 6, 4 and 4 (18) games in the match.

As an added bonus, every time Raonic is victorious, you get to shout ‘Another game for Milos!!!’

5. First Set Winner

First set winner in tennis betting is similar to the first half bet in basketball betting or football betting, or the first five innings in baseball betting.

Instead of betting on the full match, you are just betting on the result of the first set. First set winner would be a good option if you think Raonic will begin the match quickly but might fade as the match goes along.

Www.SportsInteraction.com is offering +188 odds on Raonic to win the first set.

6. Props

Tennis props allow you to bet on certain things taking place within the match, rather than the result of the match itself.

For example, you can bet on who will make more faults or double faults in a match, or who will record the most aces.

Raonic is well known for his powerful serve, and he delivered 23 aces in his upset of Federer on Friday.

7. Live Betting

Perhaps no sport has the wild swings of tennis live betting odds.

One minute, the favourite can have his serve broken and look as if he’s on his way to defeat. The next, he’ll have broken his opponent’s serve and be back in the match.

You’ll even see huge fluctuation in odds when the score is 15-40 in a game. So if you want to watch a bit of the action and then bet on Raonic when the odds look more favourable, live betting is your way to do it.

You can also do live betting on things like who will win the next point.
