Weekly Q&A With Sports Interaction (June 16)

Each week, we talk to Sports Interaction to get their thoughts on what’s going on in the sports betting world, with an emphasis on sports betting in Canada.

Sports Interaction is a Canadian sportsbook that caters specifically to Canucks. They offer convenient deposit methods as well as a wide selection of betting props on many events.

Here’s our Q&A with them for this week.

Stanley Cup Betting

Now that the Stanley Cup playoffs are in the rearview mirror and the Pittsburgh Penguins are the Stanley Cup champions for the fourth time in franchise history, how was the NHL postseason for Sports Interaction?

On the whole, the NHL playoffs went well for us – that’s what happens when betting favourites like Chicago, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Washington go out early.

However, some sharp bettors did see the potential in the Penguins when they finished the regular season on such a roll and cashed in nicely.

If you’re looking to back Pittsburgh to repeat, early 2017 Stanley Cup odds have the Penguins set as +800 favourites.

US Open Golf Betting

The 116th U.S. Open tees off this weekend at Oakmont Country club and it looks like a crowded odds board at the top. Who do bettors like so far?

Jason Day is the current favourite at +611, followed by Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth at +800, then Dustin Johnson at +1100 and Phil Mickelson at +1800.

Bettors are spread pretty evenly between those top five. We’ve also seen some support for Patrick Reed (+4000) and Brooks Koepka (+3500).

This should be a good weekend of golf on a tough track.

Note: The tournament has already started, but you can still bet on the US Open using live betting. We wrote an article about how to bet the US Open in Canada.

UFC Fight Night 89 Betting Odds

The UFC is back north of the border this weekend and the main event features Canadian Rory MacDonald facing off against Stephen Thompson in a bout between welterweight contenders. What do you make of this fight and the rest of the card?

MacDonald opened as a slight favourite at -120, but now that fight is a Pick ‘em with each fighter at -115.

This looks like a toss-up and while we do have more support coming in for MacDonald, Thompson is dangerous.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is also seeing some love from bettors in the co-main event even though he’s up against another Canadian in Patrick Cote.

NBA Finals Betting

Lastly, we could see the Golden State Warriors claim their second straight NBA championship Thursday as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6. What do bettors think about this one?

This is a very tough game to call. The Cavaliers are currently holding as 2-point favourites at home but our action is split just about down the middle.

About 53 percent of bettors like Cleveland at -2. If the Cavs can pull it off and force a Game 7 on Sunday in Golden State, we’re looking at an absolutely huge sports betting event.

Note: We posted a NBA Finals Game 6 betting pick that you can read here.
