NHL Betting Picks For Tuesday, February 13

The season record for our free NHL picks is now up to 24-11 after our third consecutive 2-0 night last Thursday, winning on both the Flames Team Total Over 2.5 and the Stars moneyline.

It’s been a great run of late and we’ll look to continue that momentum with another pair of picks on the Tuesday NHL board, which you can read below.

NHL Betting Picks For Tonight

Washington Capitals at Winnipeg Jets

It’s a different roster this year in Washington, and the Caps have changed the way they win games. Instead of playing with a defence-first mentality, the Capitals have been more aggressive in the offensive end of the ice this season. They’re averaging nearly 3 goals per game on the road this season, something they’ve had to do in order to overcome a leakier defense than we’ve been used to since Barry Trotz took over as coach. With 27 goals in their last 7 games, Washington comes into this game oozing with offensive confidence.

Winnipeg’s been stingy at home all year, but we’ve seen a few cracks in that foundation over the last few games. The Jets have allowed at least 3 goals in 3 straight home games despite facing the Coyotes, struggling Rangers and offensively-challenged Blues. We’re not sure that Washington’s got enough here to earn its 11th victory in its last 13 meetings with the Jets, but we do expect the Caps to pop at least 3.

NHL Betting Prediction: Capitals Team Total Over 2.5 -109

Arizona Coyotes at San Jose Sharks

If you’ve been following these free NHL picks for tonight for a while, you’ve probably noticed us on the First Period Over 1.5 in Sharks home games before. That’s because San Jose’s home games have been surprisingly high-scoring, considering how the Sharks have been an under machine in The Tank for years.

On the year, the Sharks are both scoring and allowing an average of more than 1 goal per first period when playing at home. They’ve also been playing a lot of high-scoring games at home recently in general, allowing 20 goals in their last 4 games there while scoring 18 of their own.

Arizona’s ordinarily a tough team to rely on for an Over bet, but the Coyotes are actually pretty hot in the offensive zone right now as well. The Yotes are coming off a 6-1 rout of the Blackhawks last night, the 4th straight time that they’ve scored at least 3 goals. Meanwhile, that always-suspect Arizona defense might allow us to cash this First Period Over 1.5 all by itself, having surrendered 22 goals over the last 6 games.

The last time these teams met in San Jose, the score was 3-3 after one period. We’re not expecting a repeat performance, but do like the chance for some early fireworks once again.

NHL Betting Prediction: First Period Over 1.5 -108
