The NBA betting season is a long one, so just looking at the standings won’t tell you everything when making your NBA betting picks.
Teams often go through both hot and cold streaks that go unnoticed by most people.
Here are two teams that have flown under the radar lately as excellent NBA betting picks:
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have quietly flown to the top of the Eastern Conference by winning 21 of their last 23 games, going into Sunday’s action against Washington.
Atlanta has done a lot of its damage on the road, winning its last eight games away from home. The Hawks’ 13 road wins ranks just behind the Bulls (14) for most in the NBA.
Atlanta’s success has come so under the radar that the Hawks are the best team against the spread this season (25-11) as well.
Detroit Pistons
Detroit might only be 13-24 on the year, but the Pistons have been one of the top NBA betting picks over the past month.
Detroit has won eight of its last nine games, all since releasing Josh Smith. During that stretch, the Pistons have won in Cleveland (LeBron was playing), San Antonio and Dallas.
Detroit is 15-22 ATS this season.
