Mariners Vs. Blue Jays MLB Betting Odds And Pick (May 11)

It was a really nice win last night for the Blue Jays, who continue trying to scratch and claw their way back to .500 after an awful start to the season. Toronto trailed Cleveland 2-0 after half an inning and 7-3 through 2.5 innings, but five relievers combined to hold the Tribe scoreless the rest of the way and the Jays rallied for an 8-7 win on Ryan Goins’ two-out RBI single off Indians closer Cody Allen in the bottom of the ninth.

Toronto has now won back-to-back series for the first time this season and seven of its last 11 games overall. They also exacted revenge on the Indians for last year’s ALCS, which had to feel really good. Now, the question is whether the Jays can carry this momentum into tonight’s opening game of a 4-game series with Seattle.

Mariners vs Blue Jays Betting Odds May 11

The Blue Jays opened as -130 favourites Wednesday at Pinnacle, but early money on the Mariners dropped Toronto to -122 by Thursday morning. The Over/Under was set at 9 with -119 juice on the Under, and that line didn’t move much in early action. The Jays paid a fat +168 return to win the game by more than 1 run on the -1.5 run line handicap.

Seattle comes into this series swinging a pretty hot bat. The Mariners scored a total of 21 runs in a two-game sweep in Philadelphia and have scored eight runs or more in five of their last seven outings.

Seattle’s starting pitcher tonight is rookie righthander Chase De Jong, who was actually a Blue Jays second-round draft pick back in 2012. De Jong has had a rocky start to his first season in the big leagues, going 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts and two relief appearances. He has only struck out six batters in 13.1 innings while walking five, not a good ratio at all. And to top that off, he’s been prone to giving up the long ball. allowing three in his limited amount of work. However, he’s coming off a nice effort in his last game, when he held the Rangers to one run in six innings.

The Jays start Marco Estrada, who is a misleading 1-2 on the year. Estrada’s ERA is a tidy 3.14, he’s averaging more than a strikeout per inning and he’s keeping his walks down. But he’s coming off a tough outing in Tampa Bay on Saturday, when he gave up a season-high five runs, and has struggled in his career against Seattle (1-3, 4.13 ERA lifetime).

With Toronto enjoying a clear advantage in the starting pitching matchup and playing with as much confidence as they have had all year, we like the Jays to continue creeping back towards .500 with a win tonight.
