NHL Betting Picks For Tonight
1. Sharks Team Total Over 2.5 +101 (Pinnacle)
The Sharks are fairly big underdogs in this game, likely because Boston is playing its first game under a new head coach and bettors tend to line up to bet on teams in those situations. That allows us to get San Jose’s Team Total Over 2.5 at plus money, and we’ll gladly take it, considering how poor Boston’s been defensively of late. The Bruins have allowed 3 goals or more in 9 of their last 10 games, while the Sharks have scored 3+ in 6 of their last 8. Boston may win the game, but we think they’ll have to outscore the Sharks to do it.

2. Blue Jackets First Period -0.5 +130
We won with the Blue Jackets in the first period on Tuesday and we’ll go back to the well again tonight. Unfortunately, since Columbus is such a big favourite on the full game line, we need to lay half a puck in the first period to get any sort of value (which means we won’t push if the period ends in a tie). However, the Jackets’ first period metrics are so good and the Canucks’ are so bad that we’re willing to take a shot at this, especially at +130 return.
3. Stars Team Total Over 2.5 -120 (Pinnacle)
Dallas has been very inconsistent all year, but the one thing they’ve been pretty consistent at doing is playing high-scoring games. Their goaltending has been awful (3+ goals allowed in 10 straight games) so the Stars are resorting to trying to outscore teams, and they’ve produced 3+ goals in 4 of their last 5 outings. We’d consider the Senators Over the team total here but Ottawa has been blanked in 2 straight games and we’re not ready to lay juice on them to suddenly score 3+ tonight. Instead, we’ll look to a Dallas team that has won 8 of the last 9 meetings with the Senators, including 4 straight in Ottawa, to pump a few by Condon and cash this Team Total Over at a -120 price.
