Senators Nearly 2:1 Underdogs In Game 7 Vs Penguins

The Ottawa Senators haven’t gotten respect from oddsmakers all year long, and they’re still not getting any even when they’re one win away from the Stanley Cup final.

Many sportsbooks are listing the Senators as +170 moneyline underdogs for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final in Pittsburgh. Sports Interaction, a Canadian sportsbook that caters to Canadian players and is even located just a few hours east of Ottawa on a native reserve in Quebec, is offering Ottawa at a fat +180 price.

(In case you’re not familiar with betting odds, +170 means that you can win $170 for every $100 you bet on the Senators. It also implies that Ottawa has a 37% chance to win the game.)

The Senators have been underdogs throughout the playoffs. They paid +150 on the series betting lines despite having home ice advantage against Boston in Round 1, and they were +129 underdogs in Round 2 versus the Rangers.

Maybe that’s what comes when you’re the only team to make the playoffs that has allowed more goals than it has scored during the regular season. However, Ottawa has continually answered the bell and surprised, and it shouldn’t shock you if the Sens somehow find a way in Game 7 Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Oh, and by the way… the Penguins have never won a Game 7 at home after losing the previous game on the road.

Not that that matters. It also doesn’t matter that Ottawa hasn’t won a Game 7 in franchise history.

All that matters is that each team is 60 minutes (and maybe overtime) away from the Stanley Cup final, and a matchup with the surprising Nashville Predators.

It should be a great game. Good luck if you’re betting it.
